George & Marcia Thomas Comment by George & Marcia Thomas on February 9, 2010 at 10:22pm
Hello Everyone, This is Marcia & George. We are knew to the RV World, our friends tell us we are to young to explore the rv world so we decided to get involved. Recently, we just purchases a Layton Skyline Travel Trailer (to work out the trials and errors) due to we both enjoying fishing but was burned out with the same lakes surrounding Detroit, MI. Does anyone have any great locations on where we could travel for some camping/fishing fun or any campground memeberships we can join? Thanks in Advance

Hello, All. Thought we'd introduce ourselves. We're Richard and 'Chelle and two cats and a dog. And we're just starting out in a 24' class C with no slides. Not ones to do things half way, we immediately started full timing. It's been a lot of fun and a little frustration learning as we go. And the first thing we learned is we need a bigger RV!! Looking forward to talking with you folks!

My husband and I are thinking about fulltiming in 5-10 years if all goes well. We'd love to make friends with folks who know the life and would like to share their experiences.

Hi Al and Gini Smith

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and have travelled the AlCan twice and also across Canada to Edmondton, then down into North Dakota.

The roads are generally very good most of the year. Most road houses, gas stations, etc. are 100-200 miles apart when you get further West. Usually there will be highway signs indicating how far the next stop is - look for them and heed the warnings. I also recommend that you purchase a "go to" Alaska travel guide. Check out the internet or purchase THE MILEPOST, the infamous mile-by-mile guide. I also recommend a good travel plan in case of emergencies, especially for towing.

Go for it!! The animals will be out this time of the year so watch for them beside the road as you travel further west.

we are about to leave Azle Texas after about a month and are going home to San Angelo for a couple of days then we are off to Llano texas for a month on the river, but what a hassel we had this trip. First of all we were not even thirty miles from home when we blew a tire on our trailer and the tire shreded and went threw the wheelwall and did twenty- five hundred dollars worth of damage to the inside of the trailer.got to Azle and got a quote for that and then fixed it. on the way to get new tires we had another flat, and broke the drain hose for the water tank and had to fix that. hope our trip home is safer than our trip here was. but we have enjoyed our trip and looking forward to going to Llano.
